Surya Kund is an ancient holy reservoir dedicated to the Sun God (Lord Surya), the patron ancestor of the Suryavanshi solar dynasty to which Lord Rama belonged. It was constructed by King Ghosh, who was cured of illness after taking a holy dip here.
Completely restored and beautified with heritage pavilions, stepping ghats, and musical fountains, Surya Kund now hosts a state-of-the-art 3D Laser & Light Show every evening detailing the history of the Suryavansha dynasty and Lord Rama's lineage.
Visitor tips
- Visit in the late afternoon (05:00 PM onwards) to enjoy the peaceful sunset followed by the evening Laser Show at 07:30 PM.
- Taking a holy dip on Sundays is believed to bestow vitality and health.
- Conveniently connected by e-rickshaws along the Darshan Nagar route.
