Also called Dashrath Bhawan or Badi Jagah, this temple-palace stands on what devotees believe was the footprint of King Dashrath's royal court - where his four sons were raised, where Ram's coronation was announced, and where Dashrath died of grief after Ram's exile.
The complex is next door to Hanuman Garhi in the Ramkot area, with a spacious durbar hall, wall paintings of Ramayana scenes, and continuous bhajan singing through the day.
Pilgrim tips
- It shares a lane with Hanuman Garhi - visit both in the same stop.
- Evenings (6-8 PM) are the most atmospheric, with bhajans filling the courtyard.
- Closed for bhog between 12 PM and 4 PM.
