Lakhs take a holy dip in the Saryu at dawn.
Kartik Purnima, the full moon of the Kartik month, brings lakhs of pilgrims to the Saryu for a dawn holy dip - one of the most auspicious bathing days on Ayodhya's calendar. Ram Ki Paidi and Saryu Ghat are the main gathering points.
The date falls in the same busy fortnight as Deepotsav and Treta Ke Thakur's once-a-year opening, so November is Ayodhya's most crowded month - plan accommodation and transport well ahead.
Pilgrim tips
Reach Ram Ki Paidi before 5 AM. Carry change of clothes and a thin towel.
